BWB!

Baking with Brian!

Sugar Cookies! turns out hockey games are perfect for carving names out in cookies, just wait till someone scores to watch and then celebrate!

This is the story of five “friends.” (photo #1). i use quotes because it turns out there was a bit of a rift, the squirrel was rejected (photo #2), so the squirrel decided to gather an army and pick off the others one at a time… (photo #3-4) the squirrel made a mistake though in that he tried to attack the hedgehog (photo #5), but then! the hedgehog gave a curdling scream and out of nowhere came his army! (photo #6) they fought for days, then days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, and months turned into years, but in the end, none of the hedgehogs perished and they defeated the squirrels, victorious!

DJ was leaving, so i made a blackberry cobbler! i’m pretty sad that he is leaving though…he is the best! oh well, i guess i’ll have to find other roommates to bake for!

Sourdough bread…sort of…it had sourdough in it yet didn’t come out to sourdoughy! the first picture is the first day i tried and the second is the second day i tried, neither of them tasted much like sourdough so i’m going to try a completely new recipe next time…hopefully it will work! btw, the bread was still good, just not what i wanted

Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate Cake!!! This is essentially just chocolate wrapped in a giant icy wrapping of chocolate…i just wanted to make sure that everyone was clear what this is made out of! anyway, if you have a birthday for someone let me know, i will make a cake! or pie…

Strawberry shortcake! need i say more?

Strawberry shortcake! need i say more?

Apple Crumble Pie! This was really interesting because the crust and the crumble on the top were such different flavors and textures! it was like apple crisp on some bites and like apple pie on others, i didn’t know if i liked this at first, but then i remembered that i love both of those so why not together? thus, i fell in love…

Sugar cookies!!! i made these a while ago but the reason i made them is because i got a cookie jar! i decided that it needed to be filled, so i filled it…at least partially! turns out its a huge cookie jar and would take 8 dozen cookies to fill it…oh well, they we delish! also, i used more oil that butter like the show on pbs said to do and it made them softer and chewyer! brilliant!

Blackberry Cobbler! so this one was interesting because i didn’t have any square pans that were deep enough, but it ended up working okay with only one time where i saw flames…i have my oven…anyway, it came out really good! surprisingly, and i had about 6 servings while watching Tron! anyway, it was scary but fun, still waiting for my stove to catch on fire completely…it will come…sidenote, i was watching a pbs cooking show and got massive oven envy…

I made a pie…thats all

I made a pie…thats all

Apple Crisp!!! This looked like a lot more than it turned out to be, and i think that it only took a couple of us to finish this off. Luckily there were no nuts so DJ could enjoy them too! Unrelated, the last picture is us ordering $4 Pizza…

Peanut Butter Balls!!! these are one of my favorite things ever! it was especially fun because my nephews helped me mix it all up! i guess when you mix together powdered sugar, peanut butter, and chocolate then few things can go wrong! oh, and these are the only deserts that i have a hard time sharing, and i always think of christmas when i eat them…

Chocolate Cheesecake! this is pretty much death, but i’ll say if i have to die eating this, then thats alright with me…there is so much flavor in one piece that it left me (and my weak stomach) hurting all night! oh well…oh and it turns out you don’t need a cookbook, there are millions of recipes on boxes everywhere! this one was off a bakers chocolate bar box…

Pies! I made these for a movie night, and I decided to make 3 for some reason! The 2 normal ones are blackberry (best thing ever) and the criss cross one is apple. The apple dried out a little cuz it was more open and i didn’t really plan on that, but it all seemed to work out and everyone was full of pie at the end of the night!

Wheat Bread!!! so it turns out that making bread takes ALL night…first you have to make it and let it rise for an hour, then beat it down and let it rise for another 45 minutes, then beat it down and place it in the container for another 45 minutes, then bake if for another 40 minutes…turns out that yeast is pretty amazing stuff though! anyway, the bread was pretty good, especially as toast…and next time i might get seeds and make it a 12 grain bread!
